Deciem Review: The Ordinary Collection | 2018

Welcome Back!

I hope you guys had a fun and fulfilling holiday! I wanted to finish this year off strong with a brand review! When Jake and I went to Toronto for our anniversary trip, we stopped by the Christmas  Market in the Distillery District. They had so many pop up shops, as well as permanent stores. As we were walking through the market, I couldn't help but notice Deciem which is a permanent shop in the district. The stunning store front caught my eye immediately. If you've been following along for a while, you know that I like simple minimalistic style, neutral colors, and clean lines. As you can see below, that's the exact aesthetic of the store.

All of the products were beautifully displayed on wood shelves and on the tile tabletops like the above picture. I was most excited to see they carried a line called "The Ordinary". They sell it here in the states at Sephora, and a lot of my favorite bloggers have been raving about it. When shopping for makeup, I love seeing the products in person before buying it so I can test them out so I was loving the fact that they had samples set out of every single product. They also had their staff at stations helping consumers with color matches, and overall information about each product which I thought was super helpful.

They even had sinks for consumers to try out their other lines that included soaps, and scrubs. I didn't try these out because I was with Jake, and I didn't want to bore him even further by trying out hand soap! haha. (he's the most patient for letting me shop and take pictures for this post).

I picked up these three products to try out.

After using this every day since we purchased it, I have seen a dramatic change in my skins texture and tone. All the bumps and red spots are GONE. I'm super surprised that such an affordable product is helping my skin this much. I have only worn makeup once since our trip, because I don't need to since my skin is looking so good!

This solution is my favorite so far. It's a caffeine solution that is supposed to get rid of puffiness under the eye and rid of hyper-pigmentation. I'm super happy with the results! It truly does lift and brighten the purple tones under my eyes. I put this on before eye cream as its not meant to hydrate. I made the mistake of wearing it alone, and it was a bit drying. But keeping that in mind, it should be no problem if you keep up with moisturizer.

Lastly, this the was the product I was most excited to try! One of my favorite YouTubers @KathleenLights raves about this super affordable primer. It a silicone primer, so it's meant to blur out your pores, and smooth out any fine lines and wrinkles. I tried it only once on Christmas Eve, and  I can already tell that I love it. It kept my makeup on all day, and created a beautiful canvas for my foundation. I can't wait to use it more!

I loved the branding, the PRICE, and most importantly the product inside! Overall, I was extremely impressed, and I cannot wait to try more from this brand. If you haven't already, head on over to my last beauty interview with Rachael as she has mentioned another one of their products there!

As always, Thanks so much for reading!

Monthly Beauty Series: Get Ready with Rachael Allyn from Harper Kate & CO

Sunday, December 23, 2018

Welcome Back!

For this month's interview I chose Rachael Allyn from Harper Kate and Co! A boss babe single mom who runs her own handmade bow company. I started this monthly series as a way to showcase REAL women. Women who work full time, who are busy being moms, and have relatable lives. I hope you love this series as much as I do! Keep reading to learn how Rachael fits her makeup routine into her busy days!

Hi! I’m Rachael, and I am probably the least qualified person to be sharing anything makeup related for actual makeup gurus, but I am so honored to be on Little Budget Beauty!

I’m an almost 30 year old (30 is the new 20) single mom usually in bed by 8 watching Grey’s Anatomy or Friends reruns for the 482nd time so I guess you could say a live a pretty wild life. I love makeup, but my execution in applying makeup is questionable so I usually stick to simple, easy stuff!

What is your every day beauty routine (AM/PM)?

•Wash face
•Enjoy zero personal space from toddler
•Spray Dermalogica Breakout Clearing toner on face

•Apply makeup

(I stay simple with Milani 2-in-1 foundation, a little bronzer, neutral eye shadow, mascara, and brows)

•Wash face
•Roll Rosehip oil on face and neck with jade roller (I love The Ordinary brand - inexpensive and good quality!)
•in colder months or if my face is dried out I roll on The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid on for extra moisture!

What is the one product you could never live without?
Mascara! And moisturizer. And some sort of something to even out my skin tone (tinted moisturizer at least). Oh and tweezers. Definitely tweezers because those brows can turn into a singular one…. I’m bad at the “one thing” questions!😅

Lipstick, or Lipgloss?
Bare Minerals Matte Liquid Lipstick is my go to. I love the color Slay for an everyday look and Scandal is my favorite dark color if I’m feeling sassy.

Liquid or Powder foundation?
Liquid! I used to use NARS, but switched recently to Milani 2-in-1 and love it just as much, and my bank account loves me for it! The coverage is great, and it isn’t cakey!

Liquid or Pencil Eyeliner?
I rarely wear eyeliner these days, but I use a NARS pencil eyeliner when I do!

Falsies or Mascara?
If you could only see me putting on falsies😂 Mascara. Definitely mascara for me.

What is one beauty tip that you would like to share with everyone?
Wash your makeup off every single night! Put makeup wipes by your bed for the nights you don’t want to!

And the right color foundation is key🙌🏻 (I told you I was bad with the tell me one thing questions)

What is your first memory when it comes to makeup?
Silver eyeshadow. Why are middler schoolers these days contouring instead of wearing silver eyeshadow?

What is your favorite part of your routine?
The ending😂 unless I have an endless amount of time I am usually rushed putting makeup on so I am generally happy for the end of my routine.

If you could have anyone do your makeup, who would you have?
Brad Goreski! (@bradgoreski on insta) I know he’s more of a stylist than makeup artist, but I freaking love him.

Thanks so much for following along with Rachael's routine. Give her a follow on Insta (@harperkateandco), to keep up with her business and beautiful daughter Harper Kate. Seriously guys...she's the MOST beautiful little girl.

As always, thanks for reading.

5 Things to Gift a Beauty Lover | 2018

Sunday, December 2, 2018

Welcome Back!

This year I wanted to do something super fun and helpful. I have compiled five quick and easy to find products for the beauty lover on your gifting list! If you don't know a lot about makeup or beauty products it can be hard to buy them for someone who does. These AFFORDABLE products are perfect for secret santa, stocking stuffers, or last minute ideas for the beauty lover. Keep on reading to see what I've picked out!

1. Batiste Dry Shampoo:
First up we have my favorite dry shampoo. This has been tested to be a holy grail of mine. This brand also has a tinted version for blondes, brunettes, and red heads so it doesn't leave a white cast in your hair. This can be found at most drugstores, I usually get mine at Ulta.

2. Smith's Minted Rose Lip Balm:
This was a random find of mine that hasn't left my side since! I love rose scented anything, so this was a perfect mixture of rose and mint to give my lips that tingle. It truly moisturizes the lips like no other lip balm I've found. Ive been using this for a about 6 years at this point and I haven't found anything as good as this guy. I purchase this at Sephora in the mini section by the registers. Its about 6 or 7 dollars.

3. Hand Cream:
Any beautifully scented hand cream will do. I try my best to keep my WHOLE body moisturized all year around but it gets especially tough come the winter time. I'm constantly washing my hands so I love to keep a hand cream in my purse at all times. The hands always get super dry during these cold months so this will be put to good use by the beauty lover in your life!

4. Simple Micellar Makeup Wipes:
I chose to include this specific kind because these are the best affordable wipes I've tried so far. Any makeup wipe that you find should do the trick, but this specific kind comes soaked in product which makes it easier to take off a full face of makeup. Makeup wipes can be super expensive depending on how often you wear makeup, so this would be a super easy but thoughtful gift for the beauty guru in your life.

5. Body Lotion:
Last but not least, body lotion! Just like makeup wipes, if you use it every single day, the cost adds up quickly. I love this Vaseline brand because it is super moisturizing and smells amazing. A super cute and seasonal brand to get would be Philosophy as well. A bit more expensive, but they always come out with super cute holiday scents!

The holidays are always my favorite time of the year. Giving gifts is one of my favorite things to do, but its also important to stay aware of the fact that it's not what is most important. Comment down below if you'd like me to do another gift giving guide, but with high end stuff!!

As always, thanks so much for reading.
