KKW BEAUTY "Mrs. West Collection" Review | 2019

Thursday, June 13, 2019

Welcome Back!

Thanks so much for holding tight while I worked behind the scenes on some much needed updating! I  hope you guys LOVE the new logo, as I went back and forth for the longest time on it 😂. Moving forward I hope to do a bit more with it beyond sitting pretty at the top of my website, so stay tuned!

//

Okay, okay. Lets get into the REAL reason you clicked on that link! KKW BEAUTY. We've all been tempted at one time or another to purchase something from her new cosmetic line. Here is my stance on KKW. Who am I to judge someone, who brilliantly turned a super unfortunate circumstance (IE, her sex tape), into a freaking empire. Most importantly, she has been a beauty and style icon for over 10 years. Along with her long time makeup artist Mario, they created many techniques that we still use today for a full face. I read somewhere that he has a lot of say in what she is producing for her line, so for me that's a win. If you haven't checked out his work go visit his IG (@MakeupbyMario).

When I first saw sneak peaks of the Mrs. West Collection, I damn near lost my shit. What could possibly be more perfect? A neutral, natural, bridal collection! On days that I work, I wear a full face of makeup. I waitress at a private club here in buffalo so I need to look as put together as possible.

This is what I thought to be the most perfect addition to my makeup collection. This collection was based off the makeup look that Mario created on Kim's wedding day. It was sold in a set for 100$, and ended up coming out to be about 130$ with tax and shipping. The minimalistic nude packaging was SO on brand with my taste, I just had to. The clear, nude, and frosty packaging was everything. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

Lets start with the lippies left to right. This collection came with a cream lipstick in the shade "Love", a creamy lipliner also in the shade "Love", and a shimmery topper gloss in the shade "Soulmate". As you can see above all the colors are super complimentary in shade range. I tried these on a couple days after I shared it with you on Instagram because I was scared I wasn't going to like them after seeing it in person. I tried all three of them on in order. At first I thought I loved them! After about an hour of wear and constant checking in on the trio, I realized that the lip liner was a bit dark for me. About three hours later, I realized that I had some serious butthole lips. If you don't know what I mean, it's when your lips get that terrible thick line of product build up closer to the inside of your mouth. I took off the products immediately and waited a couple more days to try them.

I tried the lipstick on with my go to lip liner (NYX wooden liner in "natural), and it immediately looked so much better on my skin tone. I wore this throughout the night with no problems, and got many compliments. I wore the gloss on its own during a girls night. I took it out and started to apply it and all of my friends asked how I felt about it. I was a bit wary to tell them that I hated it and explained the issues I was having with it. They all tried it on, and once I saw that it looked GORGEOUS on all of them, I had a different outlook on it. It wore much better alone, and the little gold reflects were shining bright all night on all of us.

If you are interested in trying for yourself and are close to my skin tone, skip the liner, and wear the lipstick and gloss separately. (I think the gloss is a bit too thick to wear over ANY lipstick).

Next up, the powders! These were the items I was most worried about with the collection. For some reason I had doubts on how dry and textured they would be. The blush in the shade "Flower Wall", is stunning. It's peachy, youthful, and classic. The PERFECT shade for your wedding day. I just have two issues with it. You do have to use a lot of product to get the desired look, and it's not long lasting AT ALL. About two hours into my shift, there is no trace of it at all.

The highlighter in the shade "Forever" is a different story. I love this highlighter. Ive been wearing it every day not stop since I got it and it performs super well. Not too dry or chunky, and it lasts all day. Per KKW BEAUTY this highlighter is meant for all skin tones, and I would say I do agree with that to an extent. Someone with a SUPER deep complexion might have trouble with this.

Last but not least, the eyeshadow palette. Could you pick a more perfect shade selection for me? I really don't think so. This was another huge reason I took the chance on this collection. These colors speak to me on another level. I played around with this palette three different times. I did a dark smoky eye with the three bottom shades, I wore just the middle shades alone in the crease, and did the full look recommended by (@makeupbymario) in a video that him and Kim uploaded using the collection. They blend beautifully, and are long lasting. In my opinion, this is the perfect every day/work appropriate palette. I love how they chose to bring the rosey tones in. I find that it's not THAT common for a neutral palette.

Overall, the two products I would not recommend are the blush and the liner. The liner may work for someone who likes a darker liner, or has a deeper complexion than I do. I would never wear a liner that dark for an every day look (or ever lol). I really wish the blush was more long lasting, because the color itself is gorgeous. This collection was supposed to be limited edition, and only the lipstick and lipgloss are still available. (I have a feeling that they may bring back individual products back so I will keep you updated on that)

//

All of these formulas are the same formulas as her stand alone products, so I'm sure my opinion would stand true throughout her entire line. I hope this review was super helpful for you guys, and if you have any more questions about this collection that I did not cover, please reach out to me via IG or down below in the comments!

As always, thanks for reading!

5 Ways To Save Money On Makeup

Tuesday, April 16, 2019

Welcome Back!

We all know makeup is expensive. There aren't many ways around the cost of it. I personally used to buy every new launch, and got way too caught up in the world of consumerism and spent WAY too much money on makeup. Within the last two years or so, I made a commitment to myself to purchase only what is necessary to get me through the day to day application, aaaand maybe a bit extra for that special occasion. Here are my top 5 tips on how to save money while shopping for makeup.

1. Don't be Afraid of the Drugstore
Its super easy to get caught up in the beauty industry. There are shiny new products coming out DAILY at this point. It's so overwhelming. The drugstore has come such a long way with their quality there is pretty much no reason to not buy your key products there. My favorite products to repurchase at the drugstore are: Foundation, Makeup Wipes, Brow Product. Think about the things you use every single day, that can really cut down cost if you can find a cheaper alternative. (DUPES DUPES DUPES.)

2. Don't Waste Product
Waisting makeup used to be my biggest problem. I'd buy so much, that I couldn't use it all before it expired. My tip for you, is to use your makeup up before replacing it with something new, or you may or may not end up with 15 foundations at one time. (yep. that happened.)

3. Pay Attention to Sales
Thankfully, makeup goes on sale pretty frequently. Ulta has their "21 days of Beauty" multiple times a year, where they select a handful of high end beauty products each day and mark them 50% off. Sephora also has their Beauty Insider Sales that give you 20% off of your purchase for a select time. Drugstore's are ALWAYS marking down products, especially at target. They mark down based off of sales on certain colors, new packaging, etc.

4. Shop Your Own Collection First
Those special occasions occur more often than you realize. Your birthday, a wedding, a night out with friends, an anniversary. We all like to get dolled up for those special occasions and for some that means a different routine for your makeup. You start your search on Pinterest for "special occasion makeup ideas", and you go to the store to buy the one thing you "don't have".
The cool thing about makeup is you can be creative. Use bronzer and blush for eyeshadow. Use mascara for your brows. Use your summer shade of foundation for a contour shade. Chances are, you already have something in your collection from the past that you can reuse for another purpose. There are NO rules in makeup. It's supposed to be fun.

5. Try Before you Buy
Sephora and Ulta literally display the products for you in the store for this reason. You can go into the stores to play with the products, try them on your face, and actually feel the formula's. Only you know what you like. If you are unsure, Sephora will give you a sample of whatever product you are interested in, for FREE. You just have to ask. Ulta does not, however their return policy is pretty lenient. If you don't like a product, all you have to do is return it and say that it didn't work for you. Plain and simple. Don't be afraid to get that 30 dollars back if you didn't like the shade of the lipstick you bought once you got home. Drugstores are also getting way better about returned makeup. Just ask what their policy is before checking out!

Monthly Beauty Series: Get Ready With Health & Fitness Blogger Jessica Parrino

Sunday, March 24, 2019

Welcome Back!

For this months interview, I chose someone who inspires me on the daily. I met Jess in person at her sister(and my good friend)'s wedding this past October and we talked all things social media. I could tell right away that we would get along, as she is super kind, determined, strong, and most passionate about her side hustle. Keep reading to see how she fits a beauty routine into her busy schedule!

__________

Hi, I'm Jessica! I'm so excited to be here :).  I am a young professional working in the healthcare industry (Revenue Integrity) and I have an online health and fitness coaching business when I'm not at my full time job! I'm a dog mom to my little beagle mix, Wade Wilson, and I'm married to a NYS Trooper, so life is pretty hectic.  I am always looking for ways to better myself - mind, body, and spirit, so it's fun connecting with like-minded women like Becca who inspire other women to gain confidence and embrace the beautiful women that they are!

What is your every day beauty routine (AM/PM)?

AM:
In the morning, I wake up and workout, so afterwards it's time for the whole routine! I shower, wash my face and hair, put on moisturizer.  Depending on how much time I have before I have to leave, I may or may not do much of anything with my hair, but there's always time for makeup! My makeup routine only takes about 10 minutes (in this order) -
Liquid Foundation: L'Oreal True Match Lumi Luminous Makeup
Powder: PUR 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Foundation
Blush: I don't stick to a certain brand for blush - this is one area where I'll pick a drugstore brand that is on sale :)
Brows: L'Oreal Brow Stylist Shape & Fill Mechanical Eyebrow Pencil (I used to use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer and found this pencil to be a good substitute when trying to save a couple bucks!)
Eyeshadow: Any palette from LORAC or Too Faced - I'm not afraid to use color and shimmer!
Eyeliner: LORAC Front of the Line PRO Liquid Eyeliner
Mascara: L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Lengthening 2 Step Mascara
Lips: Senegence Lipsense, color varies daily but my favorite right now is Girlfriend.

PM:
Basicallyyyy I wash my face with Botanics All Bright Cleansing Foam Wash and put on lotion - Alba Botanica Aloe & Green Tea Hawaiian Oil-Free Moisturizer

What is the one product you could never live without?
LORAC Front of the Line PRO Liquid Eyeliner
I don't think I will ever use another liner.  This comes with a brush rather than a felt tip and it stays on ALL DAY no matter what!

Lipstick, or Lipgloss?
Both! I use Senegence Lipsense which is basically a lip stain with a lip gloss over it.  They have a lot of fun glosses too - including matte, glossy, iridescent, rose gold, you name it!

Liquid or Powder foundation?
Both - but powder only if I'm in a hurry! I hate when my face looks shiny.

Liquid or Pencil Eyeliner?
Liquid - see above :)

Falsies or Mascara?
Mascara daily - but if it's a special occasion I love falsies! I get the Ardell Demi Wispies and use Duo glue. I'm not a pro but getting better with practice!

What is one beauty tip that you would like to share with everyone?
Figure out a routine that makes you feel beautiful and make time for it daily! I used to skip makeup on weekdays sometimes and I never felt as confident without it.  It really can make a difference in your day.

What is your first memory when it comes to makeup?
I remember Bonnebell lipsmackers and having alll the flavors. And scented kid-friendly nail polish. Ohhh the 90's.

What is your favorite part of your routine?
I'd have to say my lip color.  I don't feel myself anymore unless I have some sort of lip color! I purchase Lipsense through a close friend of mine, @megyocation (Instagram) and it has truly taken me out of my comfort zone but I feel amazing every day! I want all the colors!

If you could have anyone do your makeup, who would you choose?
Honestly I've never thought about this because I've loved my makeup anytime I've had a makeup artist do it! But I just looked up some famous ones and I'd love to see what Hrush Achemyan could make me look like - she does the Kardashian/Jenner makeup and they always look like goddesses.

I was so happy when Jess said yes to participating in this month's interview. Go give her a follow on IG (@jess_parrino) to learn more about her day to day life, and all things wellness.

As always, thanks for reading.

Full Face Of Makeup Under $50 | 2019

Sunday, March 17, 2019

Welcome Back!

For this post, I teamed up with Taylor Flynn from Succulents and Sunnies to bring you guys a super fun read! Taylor and I met up at Target and put ourselves to the test. As you can tell by the title, I chose to do the "Full Face Under $50" challenge. I've seen a ton of other bloggers, and vloggers try this challenge with good luck, so I decided to give it a whirl!

Taylor chose to do a full skincare routine, as she is not one to wear a ton of makeup daily. All of the products that she chose, were all under $15 with exception to one splurge. Together, we trudged through the Target makeup aisles to try to find the best products to share with you guys, all while staying within budget.

Here's what I picked up:

Maybelline Super Stay Foundation in Natural Ivory ($9.99)

If you've been following LBB for a while, you have seen me talk about this guy here many times. This is hands down my favorite drugstore foundation. This is a full coverage, long lasting formula that literally does not budge. I wore this ALL summer long through my sweaty 12 hour shifts, and it still looked gorgeous at the end of the day without any need for touch ups. (Because who wants to worry about that?) I only need about a pump to cover my whole face sometimes less, so it should last you a good 4-6 months with every day use. It leaves you with a glowing natural finish, and perfect base for the rest of your products.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Fair ($5.89)

I have been using a high end concealer for years now, and admittedly haven't dipped into the world of drugstore concealers, ever. It's very easy to get caught up in the beauty community's newest releases, and the shiniest, most expensive products. The drugstore brands have really really stepped it up, and I was super impressed with this one here. It has a dewy finish, and has medium to full coverage, as it is buildable. The only thing I wasn't super in love with was the applicator. It is pretty small compared to others I have tried, and didn't exactly apply it evenly. With that being said, that's something I'm willing to look past if the actual product does its job, and does it well!

Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder in Light (5.89)

This powder is amazing! In the winter I have very dry skin, and this did not cling to any dry patches, nor look heavy or cakey. I'd say it gives a satin matte finish, and DOES provide a tiny bit of coverage due to the pigment in the powder. There are 8 shades total, which I was pretty happy to see coming from a drugstore brand. Inclusivity is key ya'll. This color ended up being a bit too dark for my liking and ended up making my foundation look a TAD muddy in places, but that has nothing to do with the formula. I tried it with just a primer, and it looked beautiful while providing that little bit of coverage for a natural no makeup look. I will definitely be saving this powder for the summer months, and will be dropping down a shade to match my basically translucent skin tone.

E.L.F Contouring Blush and Bronzer Powder in "Fiji" ($4.00)

This pick up was essential while trying to stay on budget. This little duo saved me probably fifteen dollars or so. If I were to buy a blush and bronzer separately it would have cost me double for just one of the products. I love the color of these two equally as much. They are both on the warmer side, so I like to use a light hand with them. (No one likes to look too orange).

Wet n' Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder in "Precious Petals" (4.69)

I went into Target with this product in mind so I was very pleased to see they had it in stock. I have heard mounds of good reviews about these highlighters, so I knew it had to make it into this haul. This is extremely intense, and I tend to lean toward a more natural "glow from within" highlight, so I use a super light hand with this one. I ended up loving it soooo much that I already went back and bought another shade which I will share with you guys in my next blog post.

Wet n' Wild "Walking on Eggshells" Eyedshadow Quad ($2.89)

These quads are an OG favorite of mine. When I first started really wearing makeup in 2013, these were an obvious pick up for me; someone who didn't have the money for high end shadow. This quad in particular, I remember buying and being obsessed with it. I love that it tells you where to apply each shade, as it can be super helpful for a beginner. I mean, you can't pass up three dollars for a full eye look either. They have tons of different color palettes to choose from, so you can go as neutral or as bold as you would like!

Maybelline Snapscara ($5.99)

This was the only product I picked up that I wasn't super into. The brush is a curved natural bristle brush, so I figured I would really like this one. The commercials with Gigi Hadid are what got me. (I'm low key obsessed with her). It claimed to give intense volume which is what I look for in a mascara. This ended up being so watery and thin that my lashes couldn't even hold a curl. This was a no for me dawg.

Wet n' Wild Ultimate Brow Retractable Brow Pencil ($2.89)

This was the best pick up from the trip hands down. I bought this on a whim because the shape of the pencil tip itself reminded me of the Benefit Goof Proof pencil that retails for $24. I wouldn't say that it is an exact dupe, but its pretty damn close. This one has a bit more of a creamy formula where the benefit pencil is a bit more waxy. The waxiness helps the staying power of the product. I don't know about you guys, but I love the savings of $21.11 each time I refill my brow product. We all know how fast we go through them!

***Disclaimer: I also spent $2.68 on a Burt's Bee's lip oil that I unfortunately could not find at the moment to photograph. It was a decent product. I probably would not repurchase as it didn't moisturize my lips at all ***

After about an hour of Taylor having to deal with my head (and body) going in a million different directions, we finished out strong and both achieved the challenge! I ended up spending a total of $48.84 including that lip oil I lost. I wanted to do this challenge to show you guys it IS possible to glam on a budget. Go ahead and click on the link below to see Taylor's take on our challenge!

As always, thanks for reading!

Add Something Different To Your Wardrobe | JORD Watches | 2019

Wednesday, March 6, 2019

Welcome Back!

If you are reading this, you probably already have seen me ranting and raving about all things Jord Watches. I recently received their SIER watch in the mail, and I HAD to share all of the details with you guys here as I am completely in love with this company, and their quality products!

For me, 2019 is all about vamping up my style. I love to have stand out accessories that I can wear daily, and that are eye catching and unique. I personally like to keep things super simple and natural, but most importantly versatile. With Jord Watches, that task is super simple to achieve. Compared to others I've seen this watch stands out in terms of quality, craftsmanship, AND style.

When Jord Watches reached out to hold this giveaway for my followers, it was a no brainer. I have been eyeing them for years. I love that Jord is super versatile, and has many different styles to choose from. Since receiving my watch in the mail, I have worn it almost every day. It fits perfectly into my seemingly neutral wardrobe while adding a pop of class with this rose gold finish, and marble face. Not only does my SIER watch come with a casual leather strap, but it also includes the rose gold metal band to be easily switched out for a more elegant look. Every time I wear this watch, I get loads of compliments on the quality alone. I even had a friend force me to take it off, so they could try it on!

Added Perks:

Every watch comes with a one year warranty and options for return or exchange if you aren't completely satisfied with your watch (which I strongly believe will not be the case). Most of their back plates can be engraved at no extra cost, which makes them great for gifting! They also offer custom sizing to ensure the best fit for your wrist, as well as customization (mixing and matching faces, and woods!).

You may have seen on my Instagram that I have recently teamed up with Jord Watches to curate a giveaway for my followers. When entering, you will automatically receive a discount code sent to the email provided, for 10% off of their website.

One lucky winner will be receiving a 100 dollar gift code to their site toward one of their beautifully handcrafted wooden watches. The giveaway will be open until March 10th 2019, and will close at 11:59pm that Sunday night.

Click the link below to enter to win!

As always, thanks for reading, and GOOD LUCK!

Eye Brush Guide | 2019

Sunday, February 10, 2019

Welcome Back!

I was looking through my old blog posts, and realized I haven't done a brush guide in quite some time (2017 to be exact!). I use pretty much all new brushes since the last post so I wanted to update you guys on the brushes that I use in my daily routine. To me, the proper brushes can transform your makeup look, so I think its super important to find brushes that you love. This time I decided to break down my brush guide into two parts. This first post will be all about my current favorite eye brushes!

Morphe M209

As you can see, this brush has been through it, haha. Its been in my collection for a few years at this point and is my go to for covering the whole lid. Its super fluffy, so it picks up a lot of product at once. My favorite way to use it is to set my concealer. I typically put concealer on my lids after foundation to be used as an eyeshadow primer. (I love when products have dual purpose). I then will grab an eyeshadow the color of my skin, to then set the concealer in place so it doesn't crease. This also gives a powdery base for the next colors the blend out with ease.

(This specific brush is no longer available on the Morphe Website. I will absolutely let you guys know as soon as they restock it, or if I find an alternative!)

Sephora Pro Crease Brush #19

This is the only brush that hasn't changed since my last brush guide. Jake actually bought this for me for Christmas one year on a whim, and it ended up being one of my favorite brushes. The tapered end allows me to get tightly into my crease to apply the perfect amount of whichever transition color I am using. I love that this does not shed, and it doesn't lose its shape after a bath. This is one of the more expensive brushes I own, but it is worth every penny in my opinion.

You can find it, here.

Morphe M441

This brush is essentially used for the same purpose as the last one, but with a little less accuracy. The tapered end on this one is less harsh, so you do not get as precise with this one which allows it to leave a more seamless look. I don't think you need both of them, and if you're on a budget this is definitely the one to purchase. This one also has natural bristles, so it will shed a bit more while washing, but that's to be expected with a natural hair brush.

You can find it, here.

Limited Edition Luminous Eye Brush Set
131 Mini Angled Brush

141 Mini Round Brush

111 Mini Flat Angled Brush

111 close up

GUYS. Do not sleep on this brush set. I received it in a Boxycharm box a few months ago and fell in love immediately. First of all the gold sparkly handles? Seriously? The brushes are so little but comfortable to hold, while focusing on detail work. I love using the 131 to pack a deeper color on the outer V and because its so little, it is super precise. The 141 is the PERFECT pencil brush, used to smudge out the lower lash line. It gets so close to your lash line so it doesn't drag with color down too far. My favorite brush out of the four pack is the 111. I use it to apply my inner corner highlight, and my brow bone highlight, arguably my favorite step to my makeup routine. These brushes are all super soft and wash easily. ITS ALSO ON SALE RIGHT NOW for only $21 at Nordstrom.com.

(the fourth brush of the set isn't pictured here, but is a beautiful mini crease brush and works wonderfully)

You can get it, here.

Last but not least, we have a generic spooly. I love using spooly's to comb out my lashes, and brows. It helps give a more manicured look for days without makeup. I also use this to apply soap to my eye brows... I know. Sounds weird right? I got the idea from youtube to use soap in your eyebrows instead of eyebrow gel, and it actually works super well. (and its way more affordable). All I do is spray my spooly with setting spray, and rub it in a bar of soap, and then rub though your brows as if it was eyebrow gel. Super weird, yet super budget friendly! This brush actually came in a super overpriced bundle in my Boxycharm so I will link one below that is more than affordable and another one my favorites from E.L.F

You can find it, here.

Alright guys! Thats pretty much it for my everyday eye brushes. If you follow along with me, you know my daily eye looks consists of about three colors so I don't need more than what's shown here. Keep an eye out for my next post and probably favorite brushes, my face brushes!

As always, thanks for reading.

Monthly Beauty Series: Get Ready With Food & Fashion Blogger Haley Willis

Friday, January 25, 2019

Welcome Back!

Continuing on with my Monthly Beauty Series, I have chosen one of my good friends Haley Willis to start off the New Year. Haley and I met right after high school through a mutual friend, and we bonded right away over our taste in music, and all things beauty related. Haley just recently started a new food blog called "whollyhaley", and is posting some of the most mouth watering whole30 food recipes! Keep on reading to meet Haley and learn all about how she incorporates her love for makeup into her busy life!

Helllooo! My name is Haley, I'm 26 years old from Rochester, NY. I have a food blog, whollyhaley that I just started a few months ago where you can find lots of good recipes! I spend most of my time cooking, exploring Rochester with my fiance, Josh and co-parenting our cats, Quinn and Hiccup. I also have an Etsy shop, Torrid Revival, where I sell some really great vintage pieces. As someone who is a big fan of makeup and skincare, I was really excited to be interviewed for Little Budget Beauty. Thank you, Becca!

What is your every day beauty routine (AM/PM)?

AM: - Wash face with Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
- Apply Dermalogica skin smoothing cream all over face

For my everyday look I keep it pretty simple because I work in an office but currently I'm using: Becca Backlight Filter primer, Maybelline FITme Dewy+smooth foundation, Colourpop No-Filter concealer,  NYX brow pencil + Control Freak eyebrow gel, Physicians Formula bronzer, Benefit Roller Lash mascara, Colourpop Super Shock highlighter in Lunchbox.

During the winter I don't set my face at all because it just makes my skin look even more dry, but during the summer I use the Maybelline FITme setting powder too. If I'm really motivated before work (which is not very often) I'll reach for my Sultry eye shadow palette from ABH or do a simple wing liner with my NYX liquid liner.

PM: - Wash face with Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel
- Apply 3 drops of Julep Boost Your Radiance serum all over face
- Apply Dermalogica skin smoothing cream all over face
My skin has been even more dry than usual this winter so 2-3 times a week I'll do a hydrating face mask at night too

What is the one product you could never live without?
Definitely moisturizer!

Lipstick, or Lipgloss?
Lipgloss for sure, I've tried so many different lipsticks but the maintenance of checking/fixing the lipstick throughout the day is just too much for me.

Liquid or Powder foundation?
Liquid 100%

Liquid or Pencil Eyeliner?
Again, liquid 100%

Falsies or Mascara?
I definitely use Mascara more so I would have to go with that, but when the occasion calls for it I do love a good pair of falsies!

What is one beauty tip that you would like to share with everyone?
Invest in skin care and figure out what routine works best for your skin. I spent years using the wrong products but when I finally got a facial for the first time and was told what my skin type was I began using the right products and over time its definitely improved my skin!

What is your first memory when it comes to makeup?
In 7th grade I begged my mom to buy me the Dream Matte Mousse foundation, I vividly remember wearing it the first day of school and my mom took a picture of us before getting on the bus. I wish I still had that picture because it is insane how badly matched the color was and also just how terrible it looked on. Still went on to wear it for months though, of course.

What is your favorite part of your routine?
Even though I love makeup, it's really satisfying taking it off at the end of the day and doing my PM routine.

If you could have anyone do your makeup, who would you choose?
This is so tough, but I have to go with @RawBeautyKristi. She's one of my favorite Youtubers and I would love for her to do one of her eye looks on me!

Thank you so much Haley for participating in my monthly beauty series! To keep up with Haley on her every day life, go follow her on IG @haleywillis. She is a full time employee, blogger, cat mom,  and newly engaged to her long time boyfriend Josh (who is also is a super bomb ass cook if I do say so myself).

As always, thanks for reading.

Makeup Products That Aren't Worth Your Money | 2019

Monday, January 21, 2019

Welcome Back!

Today, I'm going to be sharing products that absolutely did NOT work out for me as I had hoped. The beauty industry has grown into a multi billion dollar industry over night, which means that companies are coming out with products weekly. As amazing as that is, It's actually super hard to keep up with as a beauty blogger who doesn't get any PR sent her way ;) It also makes it super hard for consumers to choose what they should buy, because there are so many different options to choose from. The following products, are products that were super hyped up by the beauty community, but ended up being super underwhelming (in my opinion). Keep on reading to see what products are LITERALLY not worth the hype or the money.

First up we have the Lancome Cils Booster XL lash primer. Lash primers have become all the hype as of recently, and I'm still having a hard time understanding why. As someone who could use a little help in the volume and curl department, I'm still on the hunt for a lash primer that does just that! I feel like when using this primer, it weighs down my lashes, and makes them super chunky rather than giving them volume and curling them up to the heavens. This was a no for me dawg.

This one hurt me a little bit. The ever so loved Superhero mascara by It Cosmetics. I love most things produced by this brand, so I was excited to see that this was included in my Boxycharm subscription box a few months back. So many people talk about this mascara, so I had high expectations. This mascara isn't the worst mascara I've ever tried, but it definitely didn't rock my world either. For a high end mascara, it truly performed the same if not worse than some drugstore mascaras; it was super thin and watery. It didn't help hold my curl, and literally gave no volume what so ever. No superpowers here.

Smashbox Photo Finish Radiance Primer

This guy. I bought this with all the best intentions. What more could you ask for? A primer that adds radiance underneath your foundation AND has hyaluronic acid to help hydrate the skin at the same time? Yeah, that would be lovely if it actually worked :)
When applied, this gives little to no radiance as far as I can see. I wore it for a couple weeks to give it a fair shot, but there was no difference in my makeup application. My skin did not feel hydrated when wearing it, and did not help with texture AT ALL. Unfortunately, the claims ended up being too good to be true.

Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation. I guess we can start off by saying something positive about this foundation before we get real. The color match was damn near perfect to my skin tone, and that rarely happens and the finish is great for a foundation that costs less than 10 bucks. As soon as I opened this up, I was completely turned off by the smell of legit paint. Now I am not someone who is super crunchy/clean with my beauty products (or anything in life really), and usually can get over the smell of something if it goes away but this one does not. I can actually smell this throughout the day and it makes me feel gross. I keep this guy around for absolute emergencies (lol), but other than that I would rather spend the extra couple of dollars to not smell like a big ol' can of Sherwin Williams if possible.

Becca Cosmetics Hyrda-Mist Setting Powder

This is probably the most disappointing product out of the bunch. My absolute favorite YouTuber @KathleenLights rants and raves about this product and I assure you I have never been let down by a single recommendation of hers. This hydra-mist powder has a cooling effect, and when applied it feels like you are sweeping water on your face, and that's about the only cool thing about this product. As far as the actual setting process goes, I feel like it doesn't do much of anything. My bronzers and highlighters apply super patchy over it, and I know it's the powder because my bronzers and highlighters apply beautifully over every other powder I've tried.

I After a couple weeks of not using the powder, I opened it back up to find that most of it had actually evaporated. I followed the strict instructions, and made sure it was stored in a cool dry place, and it still evaporated. I don't know about you, but if I spend 40 dollars on a powder I expect it to be there when I go to use it. The idea of this powder was amazing, but I don't feel like it was executed well enough.

Alright guys. I know this was a super harsh post, but this is one of the reasons I started my blog in the first place. As a new beauty lover, I fell for ALLLL of the marketing scams, and paid endorsements, and direct sales bull. I hope that my honesty will help you all save money where you can, as it can be so easy to get caught up in all the hype when it comes to new launches in the industry.

If you have tried any of these products and feel differently about them I would love for you to comment your opinions down below!

As always, thanks for reading!

Foreo Dupe?! | Pop Sonic "Leaf" Review | 2019

Saturday, January 5, 2019

Welcome Back!

Today I wanted to share something with you that has literally changed my skin in a matter of two weeks. Yep, you read that right. I have mentioned time and time again, that your makeup will only look as good as your skin does underneath it. My goal with makeup is to (usually) make it look as natural as possible, and that means my skin care has to be on point to create the best canvas for the many products I use daily.

For Christmas, my mother in law purchased herself, Jake and I the Pop Sonic "Leaf" Silicone face brush. It's meant to effortlessly cleanse, rejuvenate and and smooth the skin. It has different speeds for the different parts of your face. Slower for the more delicate areas, and faster for the more rugged.

The "front" of the brush has these little tiny bristles for cleansing and exfoliating. The brush vibrates for a super relaxing way to gently remove the dirt, pollution, and oil from the day! The coolest thing about this brush is that it pauses to alert you when it's time to move the brush to the next section. The pamphlet that it comes with, explains the order in which you should move the brush around your face.

I have used the Mary Kay face brush in the past, and it was almost a little too harsh on my skin and caused me to break out. This one is also much easier to clean. (just needs to be rinsed after use).

The back part of the leaf has larger bristles to massage, and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This brush is made with medical grade silicone, so those of you who are allergic do not have to worry about reactions from this guy! I have always wanted to try the Foreo from Sephora, but unfortunately, I rarely have that kind of money laying around for a face brush. I'm super thankful to have received this from my MIL, and also super thankful to have found the CHEAPER alternative to the Foreo. I found it cheapest on Amazon and have linked it (here) for you guys!

Have any of you tried a cleansing brush like this for every day use? If so comment down below which brush you stand by!

As always, thanks for reading.
